Editorial policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. Who produces the content
Articles, help-centre texts and calculator explanations are produced by the Avitra team. Avitra was founded and is run day to day by two practising medical doctors, Gvidas and Kipras, so health-related content is never written without medical expertise.
2. Medical review
Every claim about health, nutrition or physical activity is reviewed by a doctor before publication. The review checks that the claim matches current guidance, that its limits are stated, and that it is clear when a specialist should be consulted.
3. Sources
We rely on primary sources and cite them wherever we give figures or formulas:
- peer-reviewed research (PubMed, position stands of international societies);
- official food composition databases (USDA FoodData Central);
- national and international health authority guidance.
4. How often we review
Health content is reviewed at least once a year, and always when guidance changes or we spot an inaccuracy. Every page carries an update date.
5. Artificial intelligence
AI is used in Avitra for product features — recognising food from a photo, processing voice input and generating workout plans. Health claims are not published without human review.
6. Independence and corrections
We do not accept paid content presented as editorial, and we do not write reviews for payment. If you spot an inaccuracy, write to hello@avitra.app — we will correct it and, if the error was material, note it on the page.
7. Content is not medical advice
Avitra content and calculations are informational and do not replace a doctor's consultation, diagnosis or treatment. For individual decisions, consult a healthcare professional.
