Automatic fasting time based on sleep

Your fasting start can be calculated from your average wake-up time — here is how it works and how to turn it off.

How it works

With "Automatic start time" enabled, your fasting start is calculated from your average wake-up time over the last 7 days — so the fast ends when you naturally start your day. Sleep data comes from connected integrations (e.g. Apple Health).

Water and breakfast reminders can work the same way — look for the "Automatic (based on sleep)" option on their cards.

Where to turn it on or off

  • Open Profile → Notification settings → Fasting notifications.
  • Toggle "Automatic start time".
  • With it off, set the reminder time manually ("Reminder time").

Common issues

  • "Missing sleep data — 7 days needed" — automatic calculation needs at least 7 days of sleep history. Until then, enter your wake-up time manually.
  • The time looks odd? Check that your sleep data in the integration is accurate (e.g. your watch tracks sleep correctly). You can always switch off the automation and set the time yourself.
  • Do not want any automatic adjustment? Just turn the option off; times you set manually are never changed.
